Hello,
a bit about me:
I am currently teaching in a K - 8 Instructional Math Coach position in an urban district. I have taught math and science to elementary and middle school students. Currently I am enrolled in a 6 year program in IT & Digital Media Literacy and will complete the program by August 2014. Considering my background in these areas I am heading in the direction of teaching students in the area of STEM education, as well as providing STEM professional development to teachers.
I feel stronlgy that we need to focus our energy on teaching STEM content to students and avoid falling behind in the global economy. I believe as a nation, we need to raise the standards and engage our students in the areas of science, technology, math and engineering. As an educator I feel the need and the urgency to meet the goals and standards that the children in our nation must be equipped with in order to compete in the 21st century workplace.
